Mercury DVD Wall Mount 129.124 Review

  • Maximum weight: 25kg
  • Dimensions: 360 x 320 x 35mm
  • Bracket type: accessory shelf
  • Quick summary: A great solution to the problem of where to place the devices connected to your TV. This unit feels sturdy, looks understated so as not to detract from the television itself and is easy to install.
  • Our Rating: ★★★★☆

One of the downsides to wall mounting your LCD television set is the question of where to place your other appliances. Do you still need a floor stand for your games console or DVD player? Should you run cables to the ground and simply lean them against the wall? Fortunately you’re not the only one to have pondered the same questions, and therefore manufacturers have created devices such as this, to place your other appliances on.

Aesthetically, you are likely to find that this shelf system fits well with any other black wall mounting device. It can be easily aligned to fit underneath your own television set to give the appearance of it being one unit. This is due to the appropriate low-profile design of the unit itself, its purpose simply to fit, unnoticed, beneath your own television set.

The shelf feels sturdy and strong, important if you’re to entrust it with your precious devices. It can also hold up to 25kg in weight which will be suited to the majority of products. While the shelf will hold your appliance firmly in place, you should be aware that balancing multiple devices on top of each other to save buying multiple brackets is a risky manoeuvre!

Having said that, due to the design of this unit, it is entirely possible to run several individual brackets together, one atop of the other, creating a set of shelves suitable for each and every one of your devices.

Installing the Mercury Wall Shelf System is as simple as fitting any bracket, with all appropriate fixings included along with relatively understandable instructions. You’ll need some of your own tools for drilling into the wall in order to affix the unit, but it is no more complex than fitting your LCD wall bracket will be.

This item is a great solution to an awkward problem. While you’ll still have to think how to run power cables to your television set, DVD player and more, the rest of the cabling can now be handily run together to the close fitting shelf. It’s simple and affordable but, most importantly, it works!
